Quetta Gladiators (QG) has signed a deal with former Australian all-rounder and two-time World Cup winner Shane Watson as head coach for the Quetta Gladiators ahead of the HBL PSL 2024 season 9. Shane Watson will replace Moin Khan who was the head coach of Quetta Gladiators (QG) for almost 08 years. Moin Khan is now appointed as the Team Director for the franchise. Furthermore, the statement saw the first change of coach by Quetta Gladiators since the start of the Pakistan Super League, as Pakistan’s former wicketkeeper-batsman Moin Khan, who served Quetta Gladiators as a coach for 08 years.
According to the sources, the 42-year-old Shane Watson joins Quetta Gladiators as Head Coach for PSL 9 2024 and the Quetta Gladiators (QG) have signed an agreement which was officially announced on Wednesday 07 December 2023. Shane Watson, who took retirement from all forms of cricket in the year 2020, started his career in a coaching role and joined as an assistant coach 2022 in the IPL franchise of Delhi Capitals in 2022. Shane Watson was also appointed as head coach of the San Fransisco Unicorns franchise in the Major League Cricket (MLC) league this year in 2023.
Shane Watson began his Pakistan Super League career with Islamabad United (IU) in 2016 and 2017 then later he joined Quetta Gladiators (QG) and represented them from 2018 to 2022. Shane Watson was an important player for both the franchises. He was part of Islamabad United (IU) in 2016 and Quetta Gladiators (QG) in 2019 when both franchises were crowned PSL Champions. Shane Watson was also named Player of the Tournament in PSL 4 2019 for his all-round performance with bat and ball.

Following this player’s trade, both the franchises also exchange their pick orders in the Platinum Category of the HBL PSL player draft.
