Karachi Kings (KK) has signed a deal with former West Indian all-round player Phil Simmons as head coach for the Karachi Kings ahead of the HBL PSL 2024 season 9. Phil Simmons will replace Johan Botha who was the head coach of Karachi Kings (KK) last season. KK removed Johan Botha (South African Player) from head coach based on the bad performance of KK in the last season of PSL 2023.

According to the sources, the 60-year-old Phil Simmons and the Karachi Kings (KK) have signed an agreement which was officially announced on Wednesday 11 December 2023. Phil Simmons played for the West Indies from 1987 to 1999. He played 26 test matches and scored 1002 runs with an average of 22.26. He also played 143 one-day international matches and scored 3675 runs with an average of 28.93.

The career of Phil Simmons ended in 1999, when he announced his retirement and played his last match against Australia on 30th May 1999. Then, he started his career in a coaching role and joined Zimbabwe as a coach in 2004. He was also appointed as head coach of Ireland, Afghanistan, and West Indies.

The last captain of KK was Imad Wasim who has been traded with Islamabad United for this season 9 of PSL (Pakistan Super League).
Karachi Kings (KK) recently traded their captain with Islamabad United (IU) in place of right-arm fast bowler Hassan Ali. Another trade was done with Multan Sultans, in which Karachi Kings traded Faisal Akram with Shan Masood (Left-arm Opening Batter of Multan Sultans).
Further, Karachi Kings (KK) didn’t retain Haider Ali, who was traded with Peshawar Zalmi against the Classy player Babar Azam. Further, the Karachi Kings didn’t retain Muhammad Amir, the Premium fast bowler for KK in all previous seasons, which was shocking news from this franchise.
