Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Peshawar Zalmi shows concern on PSL schedule 2024. In a statement issued by the management of Peshawar Zalmi, the team management has said that in principle the matches of PSL 9 should have been held in Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar. Peshawar Zalmi has shown serious concerns about the fixture of the PSL 2024 matches.
The management also says that Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) was not included in the complete process of the schedule finalizing. Further, the PSL management also did not take Peshawar Zalmi’s management into confidence before announcing the PSL 9 schedule.
The management of Peshawar Zalmi has said in a statement that the management of Peshawar Zalmi is disappointed that only four matches of Peshawar Zalmi are scheduled in Rawalpindi and only one match in Karachi.
The PZ management is not happy with this schedule. PSL management scheduled only 4 matches in Rawalpindi and 1 match in Karachi. However, PZ management requested PSL authorities and wanted to schedule 5 matches in Rawalpindi and 3 matches in Karachi due to Peshawar Zalmi’s supporters.
The distance between Peshawar & Rawalpindi is narrower than the other venues of PSL 9. Further, PZ fans are also living in Karachi in ample amounts. So, both venues are favoring Peshawar Zalmi more.
The PZ management also went to PCB headquarters and informed the board officials about their concerns. It was also confirmed by the management of PZ, that after announcing the schedule, PZ management requested PSL officials to reduce the 4 matches scheduled in Lahore. They wanted that the 5 matches should be played in Rawalpindi, while 3 matches should be scheduled in Karachi.
Peshawar Zalmi also added that along with the PZ fans, the commercial and marketing department of Zalmi has also had some concerns and difficulties. The fans and the commercial department of PZ are very much disappointed with this current schedule.
The protest by the PZ management will continue during the PSL 9 and the demand for change of venue should not be on hold. It will increase the disappointment in Zalmi’s fans and increase the difficulties for the management as well. As per the schedule announced by the PCB, PSL 2024 will start on 17 February 2024. The first match will be played between the defending champions Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
The most engaging and popular event in Pakistan will be played in four cities, i.e. Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Karachi. The final of PSL 9 2024 will be played at National Bank Cricket Arena, Karachi on Monday – 18th March 2024.
