Surprising news regarding HBL PSL 2024 Player Trades among PSL Franchises is coming ahead of the HBL PSL 9 2024 and HBL PSL Player Draft. Details are as follows:
Trade 1: Imad Wasim traded with IU & Hassan Ali moves to KK
One of the surprising news about HBL PSL 2024 Player Trades, we have is that Imad Wasim, the captain of Karachi Kings (KK) has been traded successfully with Islamabad United (IU) in place of IU’s fast bowler Hassan Ali. The trade comes in the draft for the upcoming season of the HBL PSL 9 2024, with Imad Wasim (former Karachi Kings captain) traded under the Platinum Category and grabbed up by Islamabad United (IU).
Subsequently, Hasan Ali has moved to Karachi Kings (KK) under the Diamond Category. Furthermore, as a result of this trade, the Karachi Kings will also receive the first-round pick in the Silver Category of Islamabad United in a swap for their second-round pick in the Silver Category.
Imad Wasim was the captain of Karachi Kings in 5 out of the last 6 editions of the HBL Pakistan Super League including in last year’s season of HBL PSL 8 2023. Imad Wasim also led Karachi Kings (KK) to their maiden HBL PSL title in HBL PSL 5 2020, but since then Karachi Kings (KK) have struggled for top position. Karachi Kings were not able to qualify for the playoffs in both of the previous two seasons of the Pakistan Super League.
Imad Wasim expresses his thoughts and feelings through posting on X (Twitter). He gratefully thanked all the stakeholders of Karachi Kings, especially Salman Iqbal (owner of the Karachi Kings), and said he was honored to be part of Karachi Kings (KK) and lead the franchise. He also mentions there about his new chapter with Islamabad United (IU) and shows his excitement about going to the franchise that belongs to his hometown and saying Goodbye to Karachi Kings.
Furthermore, he mentioned that he is very keen to give his best for Islamabad United in the future as owner Ali Naqvi and Captain Shadab Khan have shown faith in him. Remember, Imad Wasim has also taken retirement from international cricket a few days ago.
Though, Imad Wasim put up a good individual performance last year in HBL PSL 8 2023. Imad Wasim finished in the top 5 run-scorers of the tournament as he scored 404 runs in 10 matches with an average of 134.66 at a strike rate of 170.46 and hit three 50s as a finisher or lower-order hitter. Furthermore, Imad Wasim also took 9 wickets in the same competition of HBL PSL 2023. Imad Wasim was named an all-rounder of HBL PSL 8 with his performance. Islamabad United (IU) will be the first franchise where Imad Wasim will play in the HBL PSL apart from Karachi Kings (KK).
Fast bowler Hassan Ali joined Islamabad United (IU) in 2021, represented Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) since 2016. Now, Hassan Ali will represent Karachi Kings (KK) in HBL PSL 9 2024. Hassan Ali finished in the top 10 wicket takers of the HBL PSL 8 2023 with 13 wickets at an average of 22.84.
Trade 2: QG traded Iftikhar Ahmed to grab Rilee Rossouw from MS
We have another HBL PSL 2024 Player Trades between PSL franchises ahead of the Pakistan Super League. In another surprising trade, Iftikhar Ahmed has been traded by the Quetta Gladiators (QG) with Multan Sultan (MS) and snapped Rilee Rossouw from them for the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League 9 2024. Meanwhile, as a result of this trade, Multan Sultans also state that they will get first pick in the Platinum Category and Silver Category.
Likewise, Imad Wasim, the destructive batter Iftikhar Ahmed also expresses his excitement on X (Twitter) ahead of joining the new franchise using the hashtag #IftiMania.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, it is a return for Rilee Rossouw in his first franchise Quetta Gladiators (QG). Quetta Gladiators (QG) is the first franchise of Rilee Rossouw where he represented them in the Pakistan Super League from 2017 to 2019. He then moved to Multan Sultans (MS) and represented them in the HBL PSL from 2020 to 2023. Rilee Rossouw will now represent Quetta Gladiators again in HBL PSL 9 2024.
However, Iftikhar Ahmed has represented four franchises so far in the Pakistan Super League and now Multan Sultans (MS) will be his fifth franchise of the tournament. Previously, Iftikhar Ahmed had represented Karachi Kings (KK) in HBL PSL in 2016, 2019-2020, Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) in 2017, Islamabad United (IU) in 2018 & 2021 and Quetta Gladiators (QG) in 2022 and 2023.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now revealed that the HBL PSL Draft for HBL PSL 9 2024 will be held on 13th December 2023 in Lahore.
