Some thoughts from Ali Khan Tareen’s Tweet on X (formerly known as Tweeter), “Being part of the franchise has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I love the fans, this team and love being able to represent South Punjab. Something my late uncle Alamgir Khan Tareen was especially proud of. I would rather lose this team while standing on my feet than run it from my knees. So, this is goodbye and Owner of Multan Sultans Decides to End PSL Franchise Contract”.
Conflicts and Reasons to End MS Contract
Reportedly, there were multiple issues Ali Tareen had conflicts on with the authorities of PSL and PCB. Financial lose is the major reason for opting out from the contract for which Ali Tareen was fighting with Pakistan Cricket Board and with the management of Pakistan Super League since earlier this year.
Ali Tareen also had the issues over the venue of PSL-10 2025 player draft. He also shown his disapproval on the selection of artist for the official anthem of 10th edition of Pakistan Super League stating the singer a “same middle-aged dude”. Ali Khan Tareen later implied he would consider making a fresh bid for the Multan Sultans franchise after the landmark 10th edition instead of renewing the existing contract, and eventually disputed the PCB’s claim that the10th edition of Pakistan Super League was the league’s ‘best ever edition.
Following the recent comments and remarks from Ali Tareen, the PCB sent the franchise a notice, accusing it of violating several clauses in its 10-year agreement. Some sources indicated that the Multan Sultans could lose its PSL contract, and its owner might even be blacklisted, if the response failed to meet the expectations of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
In reply, the Multan Sultans released a public statement alleging that the Pakistan Cricket Board had instructed the owner Ali Tareen to “take back his recent critical remarks and issue a public apology to the management of PSL.” Hours later, Ali Tareen issued a deliberately mocking video message, taking aim at the management of PSL while appearing to comply with the apology demand. The video ended with Ali Tareen tearing up the legal notice sent by PCB to show his defiance, and he ended by saying, ‘So, I hope you like my apology video’.
