PCB Completes Technical Evaluation of Bids for Sale of Two New PSL Franchises

On Saturday, 27 December 2025, the bid committee of PCB Completes Technical Evaluation of Bids for Sale of Two New PSL Franchises successfully. The Pakistan Cricket Board had invited bids from the interested parties in November 2025 who wished to buy the rights of two new franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The documents of the bid containing all relevant details of the franchises were available to obtain for the interested parties.

15th December 2025 was the deadline for the submission of technical proposals, and only technically qualified bidders will be allowed to take part in the further process. A total of 12 proposals were received from interested parties within the specified deadline from across the world and were scrutinized by the Bid Committee of PCB over the last 03 days. Following a thorough and transparent evaluation process, the Bid Committee of PCB has qualified 10 Bidders who have successfully met the technical criteria and now enter the second stage.

PCB now allows these 10 technically qualified bidders to participate in the auction for the sale of rights of two new PSL franchises. The auction is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 08 January 2026, at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, where the franchise rights for the 02 new HBL PSL franchises will be up for grabs. At the auction, the successful bidders will have the right to choose the name of their franchise team from amongst the shortlisted names, i.e., Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit.

The PSL looks forward to achieving another significant milestone in the evolution and expansion of the Pakistan Super League as we are now ready for the eagerly awaited auction.”

Remember that the Pakistan Super League, which started with 05 teams in 2016 and later expanded to 06 franchises in 2018, is now set for further expansion with the addition of 02 more new teams from its upcoming 11th season, which is set to be played in 2026. With the upcoming additions of two new teams, the PSL will undergo its first major restructuring in seven years by bringing the total number of PSL franchises to 08. The PSL 11 will kick off on 26th March 2026, and the final will be played on 03rd May 2026.

The rumors are also circulating that the former Multan Sultans owner, Ali Khan Tareen, is taking a U-turn and wants to get back the ownership of Multan Sultans. Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board issued a statement regarding Multan Sultans, stating that the PCB will take ownership of Multan Sultans. Moreover, this franchise will play under the ownership of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
