On Friday 21 November 2025, the auction date announced for two new PSL franchises by the management of Pakistan Super League. The auction for the two new franchises of Pakistan Super League is set to take place on 06th January 2026 whereas the place of auction will be announced soon. These two new teams will take part in Pakistan Super League from its 11th edition in 2026.
The addition of two new teams in the Pakistan Super League will mark an important milestone in the expansion of the league and its commitment to enhancing its footprint across Pakistan. This addition of two new teams will also develop fan, commercial and sporting engagement opportunities.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has already announced the names of six cities of Pakistan from which the names of the new PSL franchises will be chosen from. Faisalabad, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Muzaffarabad, Hyderabad and Gilgit are the six cities included in list of two new PSL. The successful bidders from the auction will have the right to choose the name of their PSL franchise amongst the shortlisted six cities. Whereas, only the technically qualified bidders will be invited to the auction of the two new franchises by the management of Pakistan Super League.
In 2016, the Pakistan Super League was started with five teams but extended to six teams in 2018 which continues to PSL-10 2025. Now PSL fans will have 8 teams in the tournament from PSL-11 2026 to cheer with.
The Pakistan Super League is now recognized as one of the premier T-20 league internationally that allows it to grow in commercial strength, stature and fan following. The management of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) are looking forward to welcome new stakeholders to the HBL Pakistan Super League network and to further enriching the impact of the league of the cricket of Pakistan.
There were rumors also circulating the media reports claiming that the names of two new franchises have already been finalized i.e. Faisalabad and Gilgit, which the Pakistan Cricket Board denied in their statement. PCB clarifies in its statement that the names of two new teams will be finalized after the auction of the rights of two new PSL franchises.
The Pakistan Cricket Board also observed the international interest of in acquiring the rights of new PSL franchises following the public advertisement issued on November 15, 2025 which invited bids from around the globe. 15th December 2025 is the last date to submit technical proposals to take part in the auction of the rights of two new PSL franchises.
Final Thoughts: Auction Date Announced for Two new PSL Franchises
PCB has decided to include the two new PSL team in the upcoming edition. Therefore, the process to choose the new teams is in the final steps and PCB announced the auction date in this contrast. In the first week of New Year on the 6th of January 2026, the auction date already been announced. Pakistan Cricket Board also disclosed the purposed names for the new franchises which has already been mentioned.
PSL 2026 will take place in April & May 2026 and starting date, schedule and other related stuff to PSL 11 will be announced soon. The PSL Draft 2026 will be expected at the end of January or at the 1st week of February. Fans are eagerly waiting for the PSL eleven, where for the 1st time in PSL history, eight teams are going to fight for the trophy. The defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, will defend the title and remember that LQ has won the PSL title thrice and most consistent performer of the PSL.
